Party Magic Items Gained in Session 4


-- Ring of Catherine Summoning:  Summons 1D6 Catherines for 4-8 hours duration.  Unknown number of charges remaining.  Catherines appear as a 19-year-old woman in a pretty blue dress. They are all LVL-0, HP-4, AC-10.  They have no discernable skills, but when they appear they will seem complacent and happy to help the summoner with anything reasonable.  They otherwise act like normal if unusually perky young women.  When the spell wears off, a Catherine will usually giggle and say "Oops!" before disappearing.

For Iron Stone, Thom Tom, and the Real Catherine:

-- Faerie Healing Bracelets:  Appears as a thin garland of fresh vines, leaves, and flowers around the wrist.  Will remain eternally in bloom.  Allows characters to cast one heal spell either on themselves or someone they touch 1/day.  The spell heals 1D8 HP.  If the bracelet is ever removed or cut off, the plants wither and the magic is forever lost.  They are as easily flammable as any plant and will also die if set on fire.

DATE: May 7 - 19, 1226

MAY 7-8

-- The group heads into the woods, and make poor progress, barely covering 6 miles in 2 days.  They detect something stalking them at night which may or may not be a unicorn

MAY 9

-- Group gets ambushed by thieves and handily fight them off.  Most of the group turns out to be made of Catherines and the thieves mostly intended to intimidate the party.  They kill one of the three 'real' thieves and take the other two prisoner--a fighter named Jolen and a low-level female magic user named Frito

-- They briefly see the Catherines go into an odd trance as they talk to each other, speaking of things they couldn't possibly see, things that other Catherines may or may not have seen.

MAY 10

-- The PCs get lost and go in a circle, making no progress.

MAY 11

-- First good travel day.  At night they are surprise-attacked by a brown bear with too many eyes.  The beast partially wrecks the wagon but they manage to put it down.  It dissolves into putrefaction afterward.

MAY 12

-- They enter the foothills of the mountains and what appears to be Fae country.  They spot a unicorn from far off watching them

-- Their wagon is stopped by two Dryads, Zinnia and Birch, and their 'pet' doll Smithee.  Smithee tries to warn them off but the dryads cut off the path as they approach.

-- The dryads recognize Aithen, but he does not recognize them.

- The dryads contemplate keeping the PCs as potential mates for a few centuries, then reveal they had captured Ziassa a few weeks back.

-- They make a deal with the PCs: they need non-magical types to weed out a potential spot of corruption caused by a "Lost One," emanating form a cabin in the woods about two days' travel away.  if they do that, they will release Ziassa and allow the characters' group to continue on to Orb Lake.

-- They give the PCs faerie bracelets that will allow them to cast one heal spell (1D8 points) per day.

MAY 14

-- The real Catherine accompanies Thom Tom and Iron Stone, with Smithee acting as guide.  They see a multi-beaked crow along the way.

-- They spot what looks to be a small cabin in the woods inhabited by a small old woman and her cat.

-- Thom disguises himself as a child and knocks at the door, claiming to lost.  The old woman takes him inside.

-- Inside, Thom notices the woman's cat is undead and she appears to be a wizard struck by the Plague.

--  Thom distracts the woman and rushes into the cellar, only to find a half-human half-eldritch horror like creature down below.  After some struggle and an extremely painful bite, he manages to set fire to it.

-- Iron stone rushes the house, knocking the old woman down the stairs into the monster and then disables the undead cat.  Thom manages to escape the cellar, and they set fire to the whole cabin, even as many objects within open unnatural eyes at the flames.

-- The unicorn shows up to inspect their handiwork.  Thom insults it and the unicorn gives him duck feet for the day.

MAY 16

-- The characters arrive back at the wagon, only to find everyone okay and Aithen feeling better and talking.  the Dryads act very friendly toward him, and toward iron Stone who begins complimenting them.

-- The Dryads make the magic healing bracelets permanent.

PC Magic Items Gained in Session 3

-- Ring of Feather Falling

-- Bracers of Defense +3

-- Pendant of Dapper Looks:  Usable 1/day.  Wearer is instantly cleaned up as if they'd just bathed or showered.  Hair combed or styled, nails buffed, teeth minty fresh, clothes cleaned, small fabric rents repaired, and if wearing armor minor dents are smoothed and the metal buffed.  Heals 2 HP of damage and removes any recent surface cuts, bruises, scars, etc..  Add 2 to character's Charisma for 4 hours as long as they don't get dirty.

-- Dagger +1 of Spell Storing:  Can hold 1 level of spells.  Can function as a normal item of spell storing, ie, the spell stored can be triggered by the user holding it.  But the weapon was also specifically designed to deliver touch-range spells upon a successful thrown hit, such as Shocking Grasp or Chill Touch.  The blade is well balanced for throwing.  Upon a hit, the knife does normal dagger damage and the spell stored within it activates, delivering whatever effect it has to the target.

May 3

-- Mergel recruits PCs to transport his friend Aishen to Orb Lake, hopefully to heal the ailing elder scribe

-- In return, Mergel lets them have numerous personal magic items, including a Ring of Feather Falling,  Bracers of Defense +3, a Pendant of Dapper Looks, and a Dagger +1 of Spell Storing

-- Safiya and the Real Catherine volunteer to go as well, and bring along Aithen's pet cockatrice, Zacharias

-- The PCs procure  Orringale's wagon in return for returning her home to Barrelhaven


MAY 4

-- Party notice a much larger increase in refugees outside of Timbervale's walls

-- The PCs are met at the gate by Lady Skaver, who warns them of the crowd outside growing ugly.

-- The party gun the wagon down the road, but about a half mile out run into a band of hostiles who bring the wagon to a temporary halt.  The party fights them off, but the gathered crowd begins turning on them.  They flee.

-- Toward sunset they approach North Azmarin, and run across a wizard burned at the stake.

-- After crossing the river by ferry, Thom Tum returns to the river to try and get some of his money back.  Notices the owlbear wagon, and successfully distracts the owlbear while he makes his way back to the party.

-- Outside of South Azmarin, the owlbear wagon catches up to the party's camp.  Grimbul says he was sent to escort the party to Barrelhaven once it was learned they had Aithen with them.

--Grimbul challenges Iron Stone to a wager over a fist fight, which Grimbul wins.  Grimbul and Iron Stone drink well into the night.

May 6

-- Party reaches Barrelhaven, noticing many surly armed men skulking about.

-- They party delivers Orringale to her home and family.

-- Igor and Iron Stone visit a tavern in town, running afoul of a party of the armed men, who berate them for being foreigners and dwarves.  The pair successfully fight them off.

-- The dwarves rejoin the party, and Grimbul says he will take care of the armed men in town and cover for the party while they take Aisen and the others north to Orb Lake,
